Hi I made this bowl
100_1514 - Copy - Copy.JPG
about 2 months ago it was sanded down and finished with Bolgers Cellulose Sanding Sealer and the person has told me it has developed a smell like manure. Its was on my dining room table for about 2 weeks before and none of my family noticed any smell at all. Has anyone come across this before or tell me what to do about it. I have not got it back yet so I have not had a chance to smell it my self.

Was the wood still wet when you turned it?

I've only ever experienced that sort of smell from some brown Ash, but that was strong from the word go and never did loose its pungent aroma even when dried.

Nice bit of spalting there. Is it maybe the fungus that's causing the smell? Obviously can't comment without actually smelling it, but wet/dry rot both have very distinctive smells.
