Hi there
I have a small clarke CWL6 lathe free for collection
its been cluttering up my workshop now for too long
Its in fine condition all works
It has drive centre and faceplate
5 speeds and is single phase
revolving centre in tailstock
Bad points no toolrest but toolrest banjo is there
Instruction book is there too
Its 20" between centres and could swing 10"
Let me know if you want it

Hi

I would be very interested in this lathe, it sounds like a good size to make pens on - that is what I am keen to do next in my woodworking life!

I live in Manchester, could collect any weekends or possibly some evenings.

I promise I would put it to good use, and post pictures of what I make on the boards here!

to the forum flh801978 & El-Zilcho looks like you will both fit in well here, one with generosity and another with genuine appreciation.

Why hello! I have been lurking for just under a year now, building up a huge portfolio of ideas and inspiration! I would love to put up my turnings on the boards for some critique in the future, just so long as I am a little more skilled than I was a school - I do remember getting my tie caught in a running lathe and reaching for the panic stop button with some speed! I'd like to think I am a safer person now (only been electrocuted twice...)

Yes,welcome to the forum,both :D

Looking forward to pictures - and if it is short of a toolrest,I'm sure they are available from Machine Mart (can't find one on the website, might have to ring the spares line)

Andrew

Best not to leave your number on a public forum. It may help undesirables find you out if you discuss new purchases etc.

Send it in PM to anyone concerned.

You can edit your post to remove it.

Well i have found and modified a toolrest so you are ready to go...
Whats the best way for jez to make pens on this lathe? theres no morse taper just a 3/4 " 10 tpi thread?
Does anyone make a mandrel to screw onto this?
Ian

Thanks!

On the Chronos website the CWL6B accessories (faceplate/screwchuck) also fit the CWL12D. This is listed as having a 3/4" 16tpi headstock thread. If it is 16tpi then the Jacobs chuck from this thread https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29425
described as:
One solution would be to buy Records CWA150/161 reduce from £49.99 to £29.99 at the moment. This chuck has a 3/4 x 16tpi thread.
could do the business. I will do an FAO of the poster to ask where he got that price from. What do the experts think?

Jez

Edit to add: I have just looked at that posters website - it appears he works for asktools.com, and that is where it has been reduced! I will mail them and see what they think...

The thread on this lathe is definately 10 tpi measured over 1/2 " theres 5 peaks not in any way 8
A jacobs chuck would be best to hold a pen mandrel perhaps....just need to find an arbor that size

ian

Tool Post does a parallel shank mandrel for £10. 75 which will fit into a Jacobs chuck.

Oh, and Welcome to the forum
