I applied a fairly thin first layer of danish oil to a pine kitchen table. The next day I had six small black pits about the size of pin heads and a small pile of what I took to be dropped plant soil (although this was denied!). After cleaning it up and sanding there was a blackened pit slightly wider than a pin head running in a line for about 10 mm. I now think it may not have been plant soil. Am I imagining things or is this a known phenomenon?
