I've recently acquired a slot mortiser as part of a combination machine.

Does anyone know where I can buy imperial bits for it? The chuck accepts up to 16mm bits.

Can I use router bits? I'm guessing it runs a bit slow for that.

Not sure whether you'll be able to use ordinary router cutters... Slot-mortising cutters have serrated edges (I think), which helps to clear the waste as they cut - that's what I learnt from watching one of Steve M's DVDs, anyway!

Thanks guys. I tried using a router bit today, it worked fine, but it's a bit short.

The reason I want exact imperial is so I can square the ends using my existing mortising chisels.

I will continue my search. Maybe a super long router bit will do the job.
