Hi Mike

What I really wanted to know is how easily the sliding table can be removed from its rails.
I am wondering if one can simply run it off the end of the extrusion and store it out of the way until it is needed and then simply slide it back on as required?

Tony, i have been looking at all three of these too.

The one that is top of the list at the moment is the SIP due to the easily removed sliding table and main support rail. MikeC has the larger machine but it's fitted with the same 2 metres sliding carriage. His is posting a review soon (cough cough  )

I'm also being told the Lyndhurst have a new saw arriving soon, £599 with a sliding table.

Tony,

The two long rails are joined together at each end by a steel bracket that goes between them and this prevents the carriage from sliding off. I found that if I removed the one nearest the front of the saw it made no difference to the rigidity of the table and then the table slides off easily. The only thing to watch out for is sliding it off by accident as it's pretty heavy. I just put a small clamp on the end of the rail to stop it. A bit crude but it worked fine and makes it easy to remove.

Tony with the SIP model you can just lift the sliding table straight off the rail and so you would not need to remove any bracket. As for the rail itself, it is just a matter of undoing a couple of those bolts with the plastic heads (I forget what you call them).

I hope that this helps.

Cheers

Mike
