Very hard to gauge the severity of it from the picture, but I can see how it would be annoying. That said, my tablesaw surface is scratched to b*ggery and I don't find it affects me at all.

hi ed

i underdstand where your coming from , placing those scratches there your self whilst working is one thing over time , but arriving like that , it not a scratch it's gouged into the metal , whoever greased the bed before apply the polythene wrapping must have known it was damaged :? . hc

One of the reasons that CI was always the favourite for machine surfaces and surface plates is that a mark in it doesn't normally raise any bur, (or is that burr?) thus not causing any problems.

Roy.

Clearly not acceptable though, whether it affects performance or not.

A replacement definately called for and very dissapointing that QC allowed it to ship in that condition imo.

Cheers, Paul :D

I would be on the phone to mate. Alright there is no way that it is going to effect the use of the saw, but as you say its the thought that someone at the factory greased and stuck the plastic over the gouge knowing that it was just about to be sent out to a customer.

Along with the delivery it just takes all the shine off a new toy.

Lets hope that you enjoy using it Martin

Cheers

Mike

Hi HC,

If that was mine I would be gutted and want a replacement. If you were standing in the factory and had been given a choice of which machine you wanted you wouldn't have said 'Can I have the one with the big score please?' - and neither would anyone else!

Not good enough.

Brendan

(I was really enjoying this thread and seeing the saw being prepared for building, this has disappointed me too.)

So it is only the extension table that is scratched/gouged? Well at least you do not have to send the whole saw back.

I'd still drop the legs into the conversation though, with the hope that they will send them as a gesture ogf good will.

Cheers

hi paulm

my thoughts entirely , lets see what rutland say tomorrow . hc

hope you get it sorted , tho IME most problems with rutlands "legendary" customer service occur in this area - I had a bent router table plate from them, and they basically denied it was damaged when it left them and accused me of damaging it and lying about it

My advice is to brook no sh!t and tell them that you expect a replacement (as is your right under the sale of goods act as you have contracted with them for an undamaged saw) and you are fully prepared to go to tranding standards and the woodwork press if they dont comply

hi

assemble so far ,

all the base is now all bolted up and extraction pipe fitted and turn up the right way round , still have the two extension beds to fit but I am still in talks with rutlands who are awaiting a reply from sipuk as i had to send more pics of the other extension bed as well which is also damaged so i cant really complete the assembly just yet . but here some pics of it so far , I will say it is very robustly made and is a very strong unit when all assembled .

Very nice Martin. Good luck with Rutlands and the extension. What do you mean when you say that your turned the extraction pipe up the right way around.

hi mike

sorry my bad english (fitted the extraction pipe , it should be read as turned the machine up the right way ) hc

:D :D :D :D :D :D Oh my god, here's me been looking at the extraction pipe and thinking I wonder if I have done something wrong and installed it up the wrong way. Obviously their is only one way it can go, but that did not stop me thinking:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Cheers
