Just about to do some upgrading in our kitchen, including new sink to replace a tired Astracast stainless steel one. We want to keep with steel, and there seems to be a huge range of different prices. Is there any measureable difference in quality between different makes? Our plumber neighbour says Carron or Franke are good, but that basically you get what you pay for. Son-in-law has chance of a good price on a CBA one, but had never heard of them.
Any thoughts?

We wanted a one bowl sink that was not too big but had a big bowl , so went and had a trawl round B&Q and liked the Franke Ascona. It was £120 in there, so got the same one from Ebay about £40 quid cheaper. It's been in 3 years now and is wearing very well. Think they have a 50 year guarantee.

different grades of stainless and which bits are actually stainless and which are just coated steel across the price range, if you can afford more expensive it becomes less of a problem.
franke are very good, we installed one in our office 10+ years ago and it still looks like new, office use being harder than home use (I think, with 30 people using it every day) it's stood well. can't say the same for the taps.

It seems that the difference, (assuming it's not jsut designer bull****), is down to the qulaity and thickness of the steel. What you want is one that won't sag over time - more to do with the drainer than sink itself, otherwise it will puddle. Supporting the drainer underneath will help, of course.
