shoulder planes and bullnose whats the difference

will a bull nose do the same job as a shoulder plane ie cleaning up tenons to make a good fit and why are shoulder planes so expensive, i hope to get one in the near future second hand as the new price is out of my range at present, have to watch on ebay see if i can pick up a bargain

No. The short toe of the bullnose hinders proper alignment of the plane at the start of the stroke.
