My workshop is a single garage and i have enough space at the moment, just not enough cash for new tools, i suspect most people is other way round :lol:

So here we go, extractor, bench, pillar drill, lathe, grinder and tumber drier to the left. Bandsaw at the end. On the right i have P/T, board storage, mitre saw, 2nd bench and router table.

Brass nob drawer :roll: Not much brass in there though. My favorite plane is the record 5 1/2. The veritas block is also very good.

No tool wall or cabinet for me. Got my chisels in the black roll.

Here's the bench, shooting board is nearly always on the end as i have no table saw so have to use a combination of bandsaw, P/T and shooting board. Clamps sandpaper and tapes all around me.

You'll have to turn your heads for this one, Ajax pillar drill, probably the best bit of machinery i have! Complete with it's own stool.

Lathe and finishes above. Sanding sticks left of center. Does anybody use these? (sandpaper stuck to bits of MDF)

Next to my lathe i have the grinder and then on top of the drier i have a board with my waterstones on. Electra beckum bandsaw, got a dragon blade but still rubbish, can stall it with 18mm MDF! Rubbish! Beer and maggot fridge behind that.

Triton router table and big triton in it, home made stand. Old hoover from freecycle to suck, veneer press and second bench to the right. This bench will go when i buy my next bit of cast iron.

My power comes from a single socket I know this is a little dodgy, but i turn off the power when not in the shop.

So full circle, mitre saw, P/T which will not stay square for more than 10 mins (anyone bought the cast iron upgrade?) and board storage behind that.

What you didn't really see in the pics was a upper level, where stuff is stored including timber. However most if my timber is under the bed :lol:

My band saw lives near one end of the shop and it is always in the wrong place! I don't want to lose the clear run of bench I have down one side so end up dragging it 8ft every time i want to cut something long! Looks like what I need is a doorway to let the timber stick through

My single garage is semi tidy at the moment. maybe I should follow your lead and get the camera out.

I'm in a single garage too and mine is currently so full of wood that i had to do my bookcase building on the patio yesterday, and i havent managed to get my new lathe out the crate yet.

after spending the best part of a K on the new lathe i'm now brassic and have neither money nor space (the small matter of a wedding didnt help the money situation either).

i'll get the camera out once things are sorted and i have summat worth showing.

you certainly have crammed the workshop full. What make of P/T do you have?

Would be a bit concerned about one power point :shock: but then what do I know I'm a carpenter not a sparky!!

For a single car garage, Sean, you appear to do very well considering. We'll see what it's like once you've found the cash to buy more tools :wink: but, I'm sure that using your overhead storage helps no end - I plan to sort mine out at some point. You even have a rear access door as well! :roll: (I hate up-and-over doors!! :x)

I guess your bandsaw was a second-hand/eBay purchase? Have you tried cranking up the tension on the drive belt? Sounds very odd that you should be stalling on 18mm thick stuff...

Thanks for sharing your workshop layout with us.

How tall did you make the drawers for you workbench? I'm part-way through building my new bench (see my Blog! :wink and I haven't yet sussed that part out... Like you, I also plan to store my hand tools in there.

Have you tried cranking up the tension on the drive belt? Sounds very odd that you should be stalling on 18mm thick stuff...

I was thinking the same, apologies if grannies and eggs etc, but blade tension and belt tension well worth checking.

I swapped my puny startrite drive belt for a Halfords fan belt of similar length but stouter cross section and that made a very noticeable difference, the old narrow cross-section belt was slipping under load, the bigger cross section gave more surface area and friction to drive the blade......

Mark, my P/T is made by Fox. Axminster also sell the same model, with their badge on. However mine has an aluminum fence and it will not stay square. I might upgrade to the cast iron fence soon though.

Olly, got my bandsaw out the local paper. I will have to have a look at the belt. I just put it down to cheap tools, but when i think more, it does sound a little odd. :wink: Drawers on my bench: 2x140mm, 2x210mm. I should have also put a shallow one in really, to house just chisels, screwdrivers, knives etc.

You have got a lot of stuff in there. Nice to see a washing machine handy for if you get your overalls dirty. Its also great to see someone else who's workshop is not dust clutter free (no offense).
