Hello everyone and hope you are all about to have great holiday and a damn site better 2021.
I have laid a new floor and I have to put on the beading (or show moulding as I hear it is called). However I have a bump in the skirting board (see attached image) . I was wondering what is the best way to apply the beading here?

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Thanks
Conor

  1. Take a notch out of the back of the shoe moulding that matches the profile of the protrusion, or:
  2. Remove that piece of plywood, MDF, hardboard, or whatever it is, and see what's behind it. Once you know what's there you might find you're able to replace the patch with something that fits flush to the rest of the skirting board's face. Then you won't need to notch the back of your shoe mould ... or:
  3. If 2 fails, replace existing patch piece, or make a new piece similar, fix in place, fill any holes, and revert to suggestion 1. Paint or polish as preferred or needed. Slainte.
