Recently I read about the possibility of turning a shipping container into a workshop but did anybody see last night’s ‘Amazing Spaces – Floating Homes’ on Channel 4?

Architect George Clarke’s friend Max McMurdo turned a 40x12ft second hand shipping container into a floating home http://www.channel4.com/programmes/geor ... /60244-009. There were some very innovative ideas about insulation and storage and worth a look for somebody considering recycling a container including some very straightforward woodwork.

If you search for container city and Nicholas Lacey you should fiñd some inspiration

I saw that yes - absolutely brilliant, lol but being a shortarse helped! - the 1 sink, 1 tap was absolutely inspired.

The Grand Designs house of the year series, I think last week, showed an architect in Northern Ireland created a home using 4 shipping containers at a cost of £135000.

the one in Northern Ireland built with 4 containers. He had a lot of strengthening to do to them to get them to work. I'm not keen on the outside steps with no handrail. One guinness too many and you may well end up in A&E

I see so many things on grand designs that makes me wonder if the building inspector had even looked at the job !

I do agree about the handrails, you could spill your drink stumbling up the steps. :p
