hi all will be moving house as soon as we can find somewhere. may need to build another workshop. does anyone know what is the max hiegth you can go with out planning. seem to recall 4m to ridge if pitched roof but not sure. with the planning these days may be easier to just pay the fee and get it :?

I can can concur that it's 4m at the heighest point - good reason to go for a flat roof - mega high ceiling height :)

currently have a 6 x3m shed 2m to eves, with shallow pitched roof. hoping to have same size or more if i can get it past the wife :)
used profiled sheets but am thinking of shiplap after seeing byrons(looks the biz)
not sure about the flat roof?? dont think can go as high??

I think you will find it is only 3mtrs for a flat roof and 4 mtrs for an apex one. My authorities too say 1 mtr from boundries. Hope this helps.

Yes, (4 for apex, and 3 for flat in my area) although when i called mine, he was very unsure of what "defined" apex - e.g. you screw a board down with the lightest of apex (e.g. plane a bit of each end of the cross joists), and strictly speaking, it is an apex....

Anyway, where I am, the 1m boundary rule applied only if it took up more than 15meters squared of floor space, measured internally. If it was less it was fine to have it against the boundary, and if over 15m^2, you could have it under 1m from the boundary provided the wall of the workshop which was under 1m from the boundary, was made in fireproof material.
