Hello all, I hope you have had a good weekend.
Not much time in the shed for me this weekend but I did have time to spin this little fella.

Brown Oak offcut
Only 12cm diameter
Oil finish

As always, big plans for next weekend :D

Colourful little piece Rich, I do like oil on Oak, for some reason it just seems more appropriate to the material.

Lovely little bowl - another example of beautiful timber being shown off best with a relatively simple shape :D

Oh very nice. I have a piece of brown oak here that needs something creative doing to it. One day ;)

A nice elegant tactile and saleable piece. The photo is a little yellow and weak. If you get more llight into your pics end adjust the balance and contrast it will make a world of difference.

Hi Rich,

Very nice, Is the base following the same curve or is it flat/ ?

Looks very similar to a piece that won our chapter competition last month !!!

Thanks guys

My photos always look dodgy, the camera is great in good light conditions but not so good under the energy saving bulbs. I am always in a rush to take the photos and that usually happens to be the evenings.

The bottom has the chuck mortise, shallow but there  I usually flatten the bottom using the bowl reversing jaws but I didn't want to loose the depth by creating the tennon, the blank was small.

I have been sanding a small walnut bowl tonight, smelly!!

I had to dedicate an hour to building snow man with my next door neighbour. Also we took out a lad from the flats near my house with plenty of snowballs.

Stay warm
