Apologies if there is a thread on this but a quick search only seemed to cover getting them done.

Does anyone sharpen their own TCT saw blades? Seems to me that if you can do it efficiently then any equipment needed to do so would quickly pay for itself...

Ive seen a few videos of people using continuous rim diamond blades in home made jigs, and have also found a sealey machine that claims to do the job that comes in at 75 quid ish. By my reckoning id only have to sharpen my growing collection of blunt blades once that would have paid for itself in comparison to getting them done, and many many times over compared to new ones...

Yep, I do my tablesaw blades in situ with a dremel and a diamond wheel in a simple jig. As long as you get the angle right, it works a treat and is very fast to do

It's not just getting each tooth to be sharp, you have to take the same amount of each tooth
so the blade stays nicely balanced. I doubt the home made jigs and inexpensive machines can do that.
Having a good working relationship with a sharpening service is beneficial in many ways and it won't break the bank.

I always try to find solutions I can do myself, however, when it comes to circular Saw blades this is definitely one for the CNC sharpening systems. Attaining a consistent tooth profile, Edge and balance are IMO key to their safe use. I’ve a local Saw sharpener who uses a modern fully automatic machine, take a look at the uTube video of how it’s done.

The difference I’ve found between the older manual sharpening systems and one that has been sharpened by a fully automated system is IMO unbelievably. The saws cut is almost like a planned finish, it’s really cut down on the amount of subsequent processing.

The cost, well I’m charged about 12p a tooth. With every single tooth cutting, the blades stay sharp much longer.
