The difference in cost between a tormek and a standard bench grinder plus a jig is enough to keep you in turning tools for probably years. And I've heard that a tormek is a really slow way to sharpen HSS.

I used to aspire to owning a super slow wet grinder. But I have realised that I can maintain a hollow primary bevel on all my bench tools with the relatively course wheel on my grinder and look after the secondary bevel with waterstones. This seems to work for me, and takes little time.

I use the sorby jig too. It's similar to the oneway/wolverine- which looks a bit more adjustable. Either make for easily repeatable results on turning tools.

Richard Findley recently put some excellent sharpening videos on his instagram feed. Definitely worth a look.
