I'm not a plumber, but it seems overly complicated as well as overpriced.

2 too many stopcocks and the bit at the top is not needed at all. At least the hot tap is on the proper side

I think it is top class. You can not only adjust the hot and cold feeds independently, but you can select shower head, bath fill (I assume that's what it is), or even shower whilst the bath is filled.

At £400 it is fairly priced - the components alone must have cost the thick side of £20. A piece of classic innovative design, wrought by time served eastern craftsmen - they'll fly off the shelves.

4 x 22mm full bore gate valves at between £15 and £45 each, hose and shower head could be £50 if you are after quality. Fittings and pipe £20 tops. So about £200 if using good quality fittings.
I admit the amount of labour in the job is fairly limited, but if you make something what is the ratio between parts and labour? £300 on timber and fittings could easily translate to a £1500 bill.

I'd hardly call using end feed fittings good quality. Would look a lot better with solder ring fitting properly soldered.

Probably comes as a self assembly kit with nothing soldered together. 😱

just bought the same thing but from Germany....nice style and exc chrome....
€120 euro's.....
same thing but Chinese is €45......!!!!!!
Havn't the room but would like a solid copper barrel ended bath tho.....
Oh, plus a scantilly dressed maiden to keep topping it up......ps. dont tell the wife.....lol....

Those gate valves are not designed for regular use, they are for isolation and can be a real PITA. The handles are diecast and when you come to use one when you have a need to isolate something you often find them seized, the handle rings off and then if you do manage to move them they start leaking.

The valves of choice today are the Peggler ball valves, either T handle or lever but reliable. As for that assembly it looks like something lashed up for a temporary get you you out of trouble situation done with old stock and left overs.

But it did say, "designer"................. (and they said you didnt get the shower head or hose !!)

Maybe we have it all wrong. Perhaps it is not a piece of plumbing at all, but a steampunk fashion accessory, hence the price.
