Thank you very much, Santa (UKW's real life Santa that is Mr. Pascoe) for these amazing assortment of gifts.

There are two recipe books from my motherland and a few very useful woodworking books.

Then this gorgeous carving mallet (always wanted one but never expected to have such a beautiful one) and a rolling pin for rolling them chapattis :)

Merry Christmas everyone and an outstanding effort again this year herding the cats, @Phil Pascoe

I’m absolutely bowled over (sorry!) with my gift - a fantastic shop made bowl sander and generous supply of abrasives.

Both the wood turning and metal machining are both top drawer - and will give F1 performance with sealed roller bearings to give a lifetime of smooth running.

Thank you so much.

Simon

Completely in awe, totally gobsmacked. When I was about ten, I got given a kids woodwork set for Christmas, Russian made all wood and steel, everything actually worked- pin hammer, wedged block plane, proper mini frame saw. That frame saw was my prized possession for years, well look what Ss sent me!!! This is the gift I didn’t know I wanted and I am absolutely thrilled. As if that wasn’t enough there’s the single malt to celebrate!!! I have been absolutely ruined

The pen is perfection, and the 3d printed duck, the body has texture like feathers. you have to see them in person. I never knew the 3d printing could be so good. and the back story, not only did he give me his best ever pen, although i think last years is a close second, the 3 d prints are his first, which he useually keeps for himself. and to get the last pen he is ever going to make? Priceless ! and Kim and i in tears reading note!
Merry Christmas!

Absolutely over the moon with two very nicely (and accurately) made winding sticks. Guessing Sapele with maple inserts.
Making a pair has been on my round to it list for a while and now can be taken off. Looking forward to get down to the workshop and dimension some boards.

Many thanks Secret Santa, and as ever thanks to Phil for organising!

Merry Christmas forum friends and a very big thank you to my Secret Santa for a superb "Paul Sellers" inspired Router Plane.

Here is a link to the youtube clip by Paul Sellers which shows how to make this plane. Excellent video, very formative, with some hand tips in the process.

The plane measures 240mm long, approx 95mm wide, slightly curved at the front with a solid 28mm base. The handles nicely turned in Beech, with handmade fittings knurled knobs and an adjustment knob. The blade cut from O1 steel, hardened and sharpened.

Well done Santa, multiple skills on show to create a well made and functional tool. I look forward to using this plane in the workshop.

I really appreciate the effort my Santa has made to make such an excellent and useable tool.

It feels good that we can share and showcase our skills through this very exciting and worthwhile annual event. Thanks also to Phil for organising again this year, much appreciated.

Happy New year and all the best,

Tony (Escudo).

Wow, that's beautiful. !

I will be posting photo's of my wonderful secret santa gifts tomorrow, things have been hectic at this end for just over a week now, we had a bereavement followed, within hours, by my sister-in-law being rushed to hospital after contracting sepsis in her foot. It has literally been touch and go to if she would make it through. Whilst she is still very ill we have been told she is out of immediate danger.

I have spoken with @Phil Pascoe about this next thing a couple of times last year and will now let you all know that this was my last Secret Santa, my hobbies now are 3d printing and as such I would have very little to bring to the table. I have had 6 wonderful years participating and have received some wonderful gifts, I have fully enjoyed those years but I have nothing to offer. Over the next few weeks I shall be ending my time in these forums and will take away some great memories of my 1650+ posts. In spite the arguments I often found myself embroiled in I don't actually dislike any of my adversaries.

I wish you all good health and a long life and as said by the dolphins in Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

I also noticed your reaction score is a perfect 1000. As I said was 1000. I'm going to-push like, just to roll it over. And I for one hope you remain a lurker, I got stuff to make pens this Christmas. So I'm going to need some criticism. , opps I posted in the picture forum. Sorry, Phil.

You never truly leave this place..it is the Godfather of Internet forums. 'Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in' or somet like that:ROFLMAO:

I seem to alternate between being a regular poster and a lurker..usually when work is quieter/busier and how often I'm out cycling. Your absence (hiatus, as mentioned above ) will be noticed. I've enjoyed your posts as they always seem to bring an overtone of enthusiasm and cheerfulness.
Sorry to hear about your recent issues and good luck with your new hobby.(y)

Looks like another amazing year - some amazing gifts and can see each maker has been so generous with their time as I’m sure none of these were 20 min jobs to say the least!

To round out, can I again thank @Phil Pascoe for all his amazing organisation - looking forward to Xmas ‘23 already and even better if we can get a few more excited by these wonderful gifts.

Wishing you all the very best for a safe, healthy and creative 2023.
simon.
