I have a screwdriver set that comprises of one handle with ratchet and lots off bits to interchange, I keep it for jobs around the home.
There is a problem with it, if you put a bit in to the handle and hold it downwards the bit fulls out.
Now should I bye magnetic bits to replace the other ones or can I magnetize the old bits on a magnet or thro' away and start again.
I can't remember if I got it from B & Q or may have been the Range but I do like it and would be ashamed to get rid of it.
Any idea's

Most handles that take the 1/4" hex bits have a magnet at the bottom of the hole but I have seen a few cheap ones that have a small ball bearing at the side held with a metal clip that tend to fail. Either get the Stanley ratchet driver or epoxy a small rare earth magnet in the bottom of the hex hole.

Why not make your own multi-bit screwdriver?

The engine of this tool is the bit holder. There are a number of similar types available from most tool stores. The one I have used is a quick change, click-on type that one usually uses in a drill. I prefer this to the magnetic type since the bits are held more securely.
