I'm sure you can still buy one from somewhere - Tilgear maybe?

Your scratch stock is more elegant, but mine only took 5 minutes to convert!

Hi BB,

Nice find, but what is it that convinces you it's a commercial product? Although it's very nicely made, surely it could still be a craftsman-made tool?

Hi BB

Jake is right as Tilgear is do them but I made my own and I dont think you payed the £16 Tilgear want for they one :) .

i bought one of those from a guy who sold japanese tools before they became trendy, so that must have been about 10 years ago. seem to remember he was at a wembley exhibition, and was selling FWW and certain books at good prices.

it was certainly "made" not built by me, will try to find it soon and see what else it says

All right, all right, I was getting there... :p

Cheers, Alf

Excellent - it looks like mine is an earlier version of the same thing(since it's different).

It's a mahogany (of some type) and has different metal work.

Their 1.00 each for spare blades is an attempt at humour, I'm guessing...

Edit; I've added more dimensions to my description on my page. It's 12" long, so a good deal bigger than the current catalogue version.

BugBear (who thought he'd found something unusual :( )
