I am having trouble setting up a secondhand SCM Sandya 1/s wide belt sander. It looks like the machine has had hardly any use and nothing looks to be obviously damaged.
When using the auto thickness gauge the readout is almost 1mm different to using a set of calipers. If I ignore the auto thickness gauge and set it manually it removes way to much material !
Just in general it would be great to get someone’s option on how best to set the machine up.
Many thanks

Sounds to me like a recalibration of the gauge is needed , or a 1mm shim maybe. I would expect some adjustment to be built in to the guage somehow like an adjustable part with a grub screw to hold it .
Does the auto guage measure the stock as you feed it in and adjust the rollers accordingly to take of a certain amount ?
SCM have a interactive parts thingy but looks like you have to sign up, this will be the best way to see what is going on in the machine.
