Looking for a set of metric saw tooth bits (Forstner style) for end grain use on a lathe. Very grateful for any recommendations - Planet?

Rockler in the US sell long shank carbide tipped bits. They are mixed metric and imperial but are ideal for end grain boring. Not cheap but they last a lifetime.

Famag for me too, expensive but excellent quality. I tend to buy the size I need for a specific job and eventually you get a good selection with minimal pain!

Thanks all for your very helpful advice. I found a good offer on Amazon for a box of 5 Famag.

For many years I used a cheap set of Hilka bits like these
I found them to be pretty good, albeit you need a powerful high torque variable speed drill for some of the larger one, and even whilst using smaller ones I found there is a sweet spot in terms of rpm and feed rate dependant in part upon what type of timber you are cutting
