Hi all

what type of saw blade do you use for .. this applies when your ripping or cross cutting soft wood - hardwood or plywood or do you use a general purpose all rounder, if so which one would you use.

Doe's in your opinion saw blades differ much from manufactures - manufactures . hc

If you want the best then, look for blades from Freud or CMT.

You can buy combination blades that'll rip and crosscut cleanly. Sometimes, particularly when ripping thicker timber, it can be better to have a dedicated ripping blade with less teeth.

Axminster also sell some pretty decent blades at the 'budget' end of the market. They're from the Axcalibur brand, I use one on my mitre saw. I think they might still be listed as Perform on the website.

I generally have dedicated sawblades for either ripping croscutting or panel sizing. I have a few freud blades and they are generally very good. I also have blades from stehle and gomex which are very good aswell but probably less available than the freud blades.

I've been using a 48T DeWalt blade on my table saw. Not the fastest for rips but more than good enough versus constantly changing blades.

Have a Freud on my circular saw. Good too.

I am about to buy myself a new combination blade from Stehle.

On the saw I just bought it came with what looks like a brand new MTL Saw blade. Anyone had any use with these? It has about 80-86 Teeth, good for crosscut?

Not heard of MTL before, could be from a local saw doctor I suppose?

With that many teeth, it is ideal for cross-cutting and should leave you with a glass-like finish! :) Don't even think about using it for ripping. :?
