Sash window weight

The weight has dropped off on a small internal window at the local chapel. Can a new weight be dropped in through after removing the pulley at the top or is more major surgery called for?

There's nothing wrong with the weight, it's the sash cord that's broken.

you have to get the old weight out or the new weight will not slide all the way down

Remove the staff bead, take the bottom sash out and then you should see the pocket pieces on each side which can be removed to give you access to the weight pockets.
