There was a video of an 'electric nail puller' - all those nails made me think of that

All this about nails reminds me of sitting in the yard with my dad straightening nails to use on his next project.

My neighbour is having an extension built at the momentand is very happy for me to take what I want - 4x 2's. Plenty of nails but most quite easy to get out and my cable/metal detector seems to find them reliably. Quite a bit of worm in it but that's OK for yse in the garden which is what I want and its OK to have in the workshop for conversion at the mo because the worm flight season is only just starting.

Look for "handheld metal detector", "pinpointer metal detector", "Lumber Wizard or Little Wizard". I have the Little Wizard and it will detect paper staples and bigger but being small checking lots of boards takes time. I wish I had the Lumber Wizard.

I think the thing many people are missing is that many of these nails will not pull, they will break off. Use the timber somewhere it won't matter.
