I’m posting this because, as far as I can tell from the Search facility, there’s been nothing about this college on UKW for many years.

I recently stumbled across this YouTube video of the College’s 2017 exhibition of their graduates’ work

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiCy8JtyL0A

Whilst not all of the items are not necessarily to my taste, it’s good to see that this college is still turning out furniture designers/makers.

Following on from this video, I looked at some of Matt Estlea’s other videos. Having started about a year ago, he’s already turned out over 50 videos and gained over 7,000 subscribers. Whilst the quality of the videos needs some work to polish them up, I find them quite entertaining and it’s good to see someone young getting stuck in.

Thanks for that.

It's good to see so many ideas from the students. Loads of things were new to me and looked like they could be commercially attractive too. Plenty of making skills as well.
And on the basis of the one video I've watched so far, Matt Estlea seems a sensible, careful maker too, so I've also subscribed to his YT channel.

My little un has just graduated from Rycotewood and its been a great hands on experience, it has set her on the way to a great new career.
It’s a fantastic workshop with all the toys imaginable and together with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team it makes a great combination.
Matt is really passionate about his craft, enjoys learning and is always keen to pass on any knowledge with a bit of fun thrown in.

I went to the exhibition this summer - one of the students is dating my daughter. It was very good quality stuff - I was impressed with all the exhibits and displays. I met Tom Lie Nielsen there a few years ago when they did a Lie Nielsen afternoon demo day

Ryecotewood has changed a fair bit over the years and since it moved home from Thame but the quality has remained very high. I will be meeting some of the best young makers next week at The Furniture Maker Company annual show for young designer makers and I am sure the presence from Ryecotewood will be strong.

Cheers Peter
