Hi all - I have a router I bought and have lost all but the collet that was attached, which seems to be an 8mm one that none of my 1/4" bits fit.

It's a Bosch POF 1400 ACE - and the official 1/4" collet with locking nut is over 1/3 the price of the router itself! Is there anything else I can buy that will do? A collet sleeve? I'm a bit clueless with power tools and haven't really used a router before so thought I'd ask before I do something dangerous / buy the wrong thing.

As you are just starting out with a router I would recommend that you keep the collet and invest in 8mm cutters. They are the same price as 1/4", but they have much more steel so that they are a lot stronger.

Wealden are a great place to buy your cutters.

I bought a replacement collet for my GOF1400ACE for about £30 inc vat and postage from a firm called Carlisle glass - might be worth a google.
