Have a 3/8" Shank bit but the MacAllister (B&Q/Kingfisher plc own brand) only came with 1/4", 8mm & 1/2" collets.

Anybody know what type of fitting the actual collet is on these?

With no product info from B&Q wondered if Axminster reducer sleeves are worthwhile or will it bugger my 1/2" collet?

Cheers

I take it from reading your post that you have a 3/8 bit and shank and you need a collet that will take this and fit the 1/2 collet on your router.

You can buy these from Axminster, I've just had one delivered for my 3/8 shank bit., cost just under £5.00.

Hi Yan -

Collet reducers are fine - but are not a substitute for the correct shank bit. Errors in tolerance are usuall additive, and balance on larger diameter bits is critical.

We sell these too - and while they do solve a problem, the best choice is still the correct shank sizes.

The chuck on your router shouldn't be affected...

Cheers -
