Hi to everyone thanks for having me
I’m new to woodworking, but have 30 plus years experience on site construction and carpentry.
Just setting up my workshop. And have notice that the saw I acquired goes not have a riving knife
It’s a Charnwood w619(used)
Spoke to Charnwood and they have none. Has anyone got the dimensions of the knife so that I can have a go at making one or is there an alternative I could use. Many thanks again Karl

It is not much help, but there is a picture of the riving knife in the manual:

https://charnwood.net/document/w619-owners-manual-pdf/

Part 34 on page 17 of the pdf.

You could infer its general shape from that - you certainly know where it bolts to the machine. It interfaces with the guard, so prop that up into a likely working position and that gives you data on the top of the knife.

Photocopy the manual page up to full scale and it will be a good starting point, even allowing for the distortion from the isometric view. Make a pattern from cardboard and turn the saw on. It will trim itself to the correct dimensions.

The saw is unlikely to be made solely by Charnwood. It will come out of the same Asian factory as many other saws painted in alternative colours and with alternative names written on them. Have a look around some of the European, US, Canadian and Australian sellers at a similar price level and you might find something useful.

For many metalworking items (e.g. Asian metalworking lathes), the quality of manuals for ones sold into the US market are far better than the manuals we see over here.
