Anybody got a view on this older heavy iron topped saw bench - I'm am looking to bid on this shortly is it ; accurate; quiet; can you get parts; what would be a good price for one in good condition. Sorry to pick your brains any answer gratefully received.

Hi Fred,

Funnily enough I have one just like it - its a Nutool branded one though.

If its the one that is currently up for sale on EBay I'd say go for it without question - the version I have is now that its up and running is so much better than what I could possibly buy for any similar amount of money that Rexon is on for. I cant advise you on the spare part availability front though I imagine that since its a tool that had many different badges applied to it in its heyday in the US they could still be available. I know John Heisz did a YouTube video about a year ago for one he bought and needed a new arbor and managed to get one so its certainly possible, though any parts you'd need would likely have to be shipped in from the US.

It really is a solid, accurate, quiet, dado friendly table saw and I'm really happy with it, you'd have to spend a lot more to get something remotely similar in a new condition... and even then it would have to be from Woodford as they're the only sellers of these contractor style saws in the UK.

Hope that helps!

Alan

Thanks for that Alan - just what I wanted a good report on the machine, if I win it I can enjoy it in my retirement.

Hi Alan
After your message I've been on the 'net' to check other comments especially spares - and these proved hard to source and even then it proved to be guess work on comparable machines in USA here there may have been differences metric UK and US imperial fittings. I had arranged a deal to end the early but have pull out. The machine had glowing reports but if anything fails it would have been a £435 doorstop and it is a long out of stock machine.

So I'm still on the market for a iron topped 10" bench saw to fill my new workshop - looks like buying a new inferior machine just for the spares availability. So due to you my workshop is quiet and free of dust with just sad old man with nothing to do;
Only kidding thanks for your comments now to check up that woodford shop.
