Something I've been meaning to share after having a few. First purchase was this one from Axminster
It did the job but after a while the spring almost gave up and you had to almost hand feed it back in. The hose seemed like a hard unforgiving piece of plastic
Because there was no swivel mount it also wore away the rollers rather quickly
Solution was to make some aluminium replacements
I think it cost around £35. Even with the aluminium rollers the hose was still hard and rigid and never retracted properly after much use.
Replacement was this draper one
It was much better but even with a substantial friends with benefits discount cost around £100. The hose was much more flexible
- think a garden hose on a warm summers day. It was way better than the Axminster effort but still occasionally needed hand feeding back in because the hose had got heaped up on the real. The swivel mount made it much more user friendly when trying to get the hose where it was needed.
The last one I bought was by far the best by a country mile !!
It's a sip one and has swivel mount, soft retractable hose. This one is priced very well and is much better than the more expensive draper one. The added feature with this one is that it has a clever worm drive arrangement that feeds the hose in from left to right as it retracts.
No more hand feeding cause it just feeds the hose in all by itself. Its bloody fantastic and would be at home in an industrial shop but the price also means the occasional home user would also benefit from its features and ease of use.
I genuinely think it's a bargain!

Seems like its proper built to last.
