Sorry to post this in general woodworking but I know a lot of you know a lot about electrics.

I have a very basic electric room heater (EWT EW CN 20) which started cutting out and staying off after just a few minutes.

It is very simple to take the back off and access the thermostat switch, which does look pretty knackered. It is stamped 'Campini TY 53' and 70C 10.00 is printed on one side and BEAB 53B4002 on the other side.

I have found lots of similar thermostats but they are 0-45c, for oil filled heaters.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement?

Sorry, no, but I would disconnect and try some fine abrasive paper between the contacts, might just get it going again for a while.
