Repairing laminate/formica

working on a home project using white laminated/formica plywood.

When cutting on tablesaw, some small chips on the laminate were created near the plywood edges which are still visible after applying white edge-banding.

What is the best way to fix these. I read to use white nail polish. Has anyone tried this or maybe a better suggestion.

my first thought, with no experience to back it up, was some form of epoxy, for the scale you are talking about maybe paint the chips, then cover with clear epoxy glue, tidy up with a very fine sandpaper. at least worth a try on some scrap

Tippex will hide most of the chips.

Try Milliput epoxy putty. It's used for repairing and restoring ceramics. Very tough stuff but quite easy to work with. I use it to repair chipped or cracked clock and watch dials.

Next time, give yourself half a millimetre to hand plane (including the plywood) or if you are sticking it down yourself, get the plywood the right size, glue the laminate on and then trim it with a router. Ian
