repair / service for Dewalt

I have a Dewalt cordless circular saw which has (as far as I remember) never really worked that well. The riving knife seems to be misaligned with the blade which makes any sawing operation hard work. I thought about ditching the saw however it occurred to me that you might have some suggestions about places I can send the saw away to to have it tuned up and sorted out...

If it is relevant I live mid way between Swindon and Newbury.

I wish you better luck than I had with my DeWalt SDS drill that packed up after minimal use. I have a local repair shop near me (Pen Tools Hereford) who confirmed what I suspected ...a new armature/whatever..and I didn't abuse the drill..honest...they are supposed to take some stick. The cost was exorbitant and so I binned it.

thanks Roger - I have a concern that there is something very wrong with the beast but at least if I try to fix it a) there is a chance it will all work out and b) if it costs too much to be worth it the way is cleared with the chief accountant for a new capital purchase

There are plenty of places that do spares for dewalt tools.

If the riving knife is off centre then start there. Are you able to bend it, keep it straight and re-align it with the blade? A new riving knife is probably only about £10. Seems that you cannot do too much harm. There is really nothing much inside these tools once you take the casing apart.

To be honest Mick I have not had a look - my father in law had a crack at the knife at one point but it seemed to make things a little worse if anything - hence my concern that there might be something fundamentally wrong with it. This drives a desire for someone who "knows" to have a look at it...

Having said that if there's no one out there I guess that I'm pretty much on my own

Hi Miles - could be worth taking it into Aldermaston tools - 5 mins off jct 11 M4

They have a seperate repair counter, and I think they are the main Dewalt repair agents for the area - the staff there know their stuff too - they are a long established company and nice people.
