I have deleted old icloud emails from my ipad completely... I thought!!
but on starting a search of my system they all pop up again...
Help!!

Just did a quick try-out by deleting some older emails on my 'me.com' account. Although they showed up in a system search (single tap of the home button when on the home screen) selecting a 'deleted' message just brings up mail.app, not the actual message, which suggests that they are deleted, but perhaps some stray header info may remains and appears in search?? Whatever, quitting mail.app and re-opening it sorted it all out i.e. deleted emails don't show up in a system search. BTW, you know that 'deleting' a message on iPad just moves it to the trash, just like on a PC - you have to go to the trash and delete the message from there for it to be gone completely.

FWIW I don't think I've ever deleted old emails on my iPads before, as you can restrict the default mail layout to only show the most recent 50/100/200/whatever emails, so it's naturally self-regulating ;)

Isn't that because of all the syncing on iCloud? If the emails are present somewhere else the iCloud decides they all need to be sync'd and so downloaded?

I do not pretend to understand anything about these tablets, but if owners are eating ice cream sandwiched's while sitting on a cloud with little androids running about I think someone is putting something in the water

Cheers
