Your wooden pens are every bit as nice as the acrylics,Steve - particularly like the olive, has a lovely warmth to it :D

Nice looking pens Steve. Have you had a go at casting your own acrylic blanks. I did some last summer, its great, very adictive. I have a shed full of the blanks cast from a £25.00 container of resin.

Steve you will need to give me some tips about getting better pictures of my pens. Yours are great.

Hi dermot
No i haven't had a go at making my own resin blanks yet, but i never rule out anything. Do you use a pressure pot, or air dry?
Would like to try a couple of them if you have any spare, how much would you require for them, PM me if you like.
I will fill you in about the photos in a pm later, trying to make a website at the moment.
cheers

Stunning pens Steve. Quite fancy having a go at them myself. Where/how did you start learning how to make them?.
Regards
Steve

hi steve
when i started making them back in May of 08 i had NO idea how to make them, i looked around on the internet and found a couple of sites, joined forums as i do to gain knowledge, then bit the bullet and had a go.
I have had lots of failures too, but it just makes you want to do it right next time, wood is really easy, but acrylics are harder to master, and i still haven't mastered them yet.
Should you need any more help just PM me and we will get it sorted..

Hi Steve,

Your pens look great - the photography is miles better than I can achieve. Do you use flash or a light box of some sort? I started making pens when I had to retire early a couple of months ago for health reasons and had to give up any heavy woodworking. I bought a pen turning book and through trial and error (lots of errors) finally got the hang of it. I have just progressed into creating my own web page to sell my pens to supplement the meagure works pension I got. I have about 40 pens featured on it but don't think I can give the address out here (advertising!) Keep up the good work - they really are good.

Hello Ron,and welcome to the forum :D

Nice website, and very nice work - not just the quality, but also the range that you do.
Good luck with the website, and don't forget to post some pictures on here as well!

Thanks for the compliments Ron, and no i dont use a lightbox or flash, just 3 spotlights.
Light is the most important thing in producing a good picture, because no matter what else you do, if you cant see it, you cant photograph it.
Your site is very good, but tell me, how long do you guarentee your platings for.
I too have just created a website, well partly anyway for now, hope to get it finished in the near future.

Thanks Steve,

I don't guarantee the platings but they are all (according to my suppliers) coated for a long life. Great that someone else is building a web site, if I can help with any problems you may have, please ask! Thanks for the insight into the photograpy, I will have to buy a few lights.
