How about a bit more information , that looks an unusual piece of work, what timber did you use and the finish used?

thanks for the photo help.
the carcase is made mainly from 12mm mdf with the two curved sides made from 6mm flexi-ply. the holes are surrounded with utile. the drawer is utile and beech. the whole thing is veneered an paper backed walnut glued down with contact adhesive. the contact and paper backed veneer make a brilliant combo. i veneered the whole thing in one college day.. the slot on the left is for the sleeve of the record playing. the record player is fixed with small self adhesive velcro pads.

very stylish i like it alot, good contrast of colors in the drawer and nice craftmanship

the drawer is for a spare needle and a lint free cloth.
it's finished in a/c lacquer and wax.

Ah yes, spare needle and cloth. I'd forgotten about those neccessities for a turntable. It's been so long since I've had one.

The slot for the in-play album sleeve is a nice touch, too.

Nice storage project but as a HiFi freak - not the best way to support a turntable!

Rod (who's got about 4k of the black shiny discs and they still sound better than CD's!) :D

Hi, Harbo

So what you got then? I have a Roksan Xrexes Aretmis 10X5 modified Naim 62 with a home made PSU, 135 clones and Shaninian Arcs and to spin the silver disks a Densen Beat 410. And a tuner based system in the garage!

Very nice work here indeed.

Have you used dowels on the tiny drawer or are those plugs covering screw heads?

they are dowells made from the same piece of wood as the drawer front.
btw someone mentioned the hand craft in the drawer. oh how you were fooled. i designed the cabinet to be potentially batch produced. the drawer front is made in five runs on the spindle moulder. i can make about twelve at once. they also make the drawer semi self jigging.

Racers - a bit off topic but my system is all analogue.
Linn Sondek LP12 with Avondale power supply, Origin Live Illustrious arm, Koetsu Urushi gold cartridge, EAR/Yoshino 834P preamp,
EAR/Yoshino 859 Single Ended amp and because I now have it my study Heybrook Quartet speakers. For special occasions I wheel out my Lowther Acousta 115 Horn Speakers (own made) and I have a pair of Quad Electrostatics. I also use a EAR modified Leak Troughline Valve Tuner and have a pair of Leak TL12 monoblocks and a complete Quad 22 system.
Most of it is valve powered so gets quite hot - do not need any radiators on in Winter! :)

Hi, Harbo

I used to have ESl57 I should have never sold them but they didn't work in my after we moved, I rebuilt the EHT supplys and they where o/k but they had to go to pay for the Shanininans. If you are ever in Nottingham give me a shout and come and have a listen.

Pete
