I’m sorting through a lot of tools from an estate I was bequeathed. I found an old Record No3 plane that was obviously dropped at some point and tucked in a corner. As you can see from the photos, the plane is badly cracked at the mouth (of course). There’s also a bit missing from the rear side of the sole. The tote was cracked and repaired at one point too.
I’ve repaired previous planes but this seems beyond recovery. However, if you have a Record No3 and would like some spares, then I’ll send you this free for the price of postage as I know No3 planes are a little hard to find and I can’t in good conscience throw this out. The frog is in very good condition and the blade is “okay” but needs a good sharpen. Plenty of life left in it. Looks like a mid-60s Record (from the cast adjustment yoke).
I guess I could have listed the parts on Fleabay but I’d rather someone here got first dibs
