Question: I'm making raised panel doors for my kitchen. The problem that I'm having is the face side sticks out to far. Do I plane that down to match the frame? Total novice at this.

If you've made them all, that would seem about the only option.

If you've found this with the first one....then you have a few options:

Move the groove further back in the framing stiles and rails, or make the panels thinner. Or a combination, or possibly make the stiles and rails thicker.

Hope I've got your question right and this might help.

Chris.

My cupboard doors which are about 20 years old now, were made that way with a bevelled edge to the panel and the main square piece of the panel is proud of the door frame. It looks fine to me but it's up to you if you're happy that's what counts isn't it?
The whole feel is one of extra substance and presence about the door, that there is enough wood to make it that way.

You can also slightly raise the back of the panel, which will effectively move the whole panel back in the frame a lot of the CMT cutters have this option.
