Just weight it down....
And they (youtube etc) pick up a short length of railway line and ... weight it down!
Any one know where it can be obtained / cut /....
Long time since Dr Beeching but....

By all accounts it's become quite sought after.
It's a preferred source for homemade anvils, and industrial chic bookends.

You could try a company that does track maintenance if the rail system subcontracts out that kind of work where you live. They might sell you some. Scrap yards here will not touch any track metal brought in by individuals to prevent theft and accidents, so looking among them is fruitless. Occasionally there might be some pieces left by the track after they work on it but scooping it up is technically theft.

And here trespassing on the railway is a serious offence, I think it’s £1000 fine

Have you tried eBay? Because it is sold there

It’s not just commodity mild steel, hence its recycle value is more and the people who own it are more likely to have established routes for its disposal once used

I searched high and low when wanting as ASO (anvil-shaped object) a few years ago to do a small forging project with my daughter. Having got nowhere with scrapyards etc due to the reasons mentioned above, I used a seller on eBay who seemed genuine and I was pleased with what I received. Just checked and they are still going RAILWAY TRACK ANVIL. | eBay obviously postage is fairly steep.
