Slimjim,

99% of the members would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

I second that, because surely that is what the forum is all about, eg we are here to help each other.

Cheers

Mike

What, JFC?

I'm not saying we're powerful (we know only too well the precarious existence of a new magazine), but has any other woodworking magazine run a five-page feature about woodworking forums? Has any other magazine researched the stats to find that UKWorkshop has probably the highest response rates of woodworking forums anywhere, and published that fact? I suspect not, but I'll apologise profusely if I'm proved wrong.

Nick

JFC,

You may think you can say what you think when and where you want to, but on this site you are bound by the forum rules. That includes rule #2: UKW expects members to behave respectfully and not to personally attack or be abusive to other members.

I am withdrawing from this thread, as I can't bear your arrogance.

Nick,

I did not "see" what JFC wrote.

But I hope the mag succeeds - I sent a subscription a week ago and thats after reading the 1st UK mag Ive ever bought at full price (other ones I have are from a remainders stall).

Most of us here are not anti anybody, so don't do an "andy" on us. Having said that, if we are a bit "robust" at times, view that as valuable marketing advice

JFC - any threads you don't like ignore em, don't muck them up for the rest of us. Spend your time giving your excellent advice. If folks want to help Nick, its no loss to you.

Thanks, Lurker. And thanks for the sub. I hope we live up to your expectations.

Don't worry, we won't go away. I think the Forum is a very valuable means of communication, and can do some things better than magazines, just as we can do other things better than UKWorkshop.

Nick

I think that will be beyond this particular reader. Where do you get the Euro batteries? We'll do something in the mag if it's a worthwhile technique.

Euro Batteries (http://www.eurobatteries.com/) are a company that seems to supply every sort of cell that exists. I have no connection with them, other than as a satisfied customer on several occasions.

And the tagged batteries solder ever so easily. The only slight difficulty is breaking in to the battery housing on the cheaper models because they are usually glued together. But often made of stuff that can be re-glued with plumbing solvent.

Thanks, ****. I'll pass that on. I may even have a go myself to see what the job's like!

Nick

I've just ordered some cells from Eurobatteries and the checkout invites buyers to add a discount code. I searched on the web and found that entering WELCOME20 gives a 20% discount.

Hope this helps someone.

Bob

Thanks, Bob. Another little victory for The Forum. Keep up the good work.
