Does anyone know if you can get replacement rechargeable battery for a Racal Dustmaster, which has the pack on a belt around your waste? Is there anything that can be done? Or does anyone have a pack they don't want? We have a reader who needs one urgently.

Thanks

Nick

Thanks, Wizer. That's superb. Should do him nicely.

All the best

Nick

Thanks, Mark. Very good to meet you at the weekend at Westonbirt.

Or, if you are a real cheapskate, you can rebuild the original battery pack with solder tag cells from Euro-batteries. I've done it successfully with both a nasty Racal Airlite and with a Record Turbovisor

Thanks, ****. I think that will be beyond this particular reader. Where do you get the Euro batteries? We'll do something in the mag if it's a worthwhile technique.

Cheers

I posted the question because I felt the UKWorkshop was probably the best place to ask how an old woodworker who has just left hospital can mend his Racal Dustmaster. I had every intention of crediting UKWorkshop and whoever comes up with an answer should we use the solution in the magazine.

Thanks to those of you who willingly offered advice. You will have made an old man who has no access to the internet very much happier.

I'm lost here! first you attack Nick about his new magazine and now you have a go at him because he asked a question :?
Whats all that about?

No problem Nick thats what we are here for. If your reader gets access to the internet give him our address and tell him to pop along and look us up.

Cheers

Fortunately he is a subscriber. I will certainly point anyone we can help towards UKWorkshop when you've all been able to help. Many thanks.

What about all the professional woodworkers on this forum who ask a question? Are they making money from your free advice?

Why does it matter? does it affect you in any way?

It seems to me that a number of members on this site have a vendetta against Nick. To me it amounts to nothing more that petty bullying.

You asked a question and you got the answer. It's called truth. What else do you want?

Perhaps we shouldn't have praised the UKWorkshop Forum so whole-heartedly in our first issue. No other woodworking magazine I've ever seen has given such coverage to forums before.

Nick, don't lose faith in UKWorkshop. 99% of the members would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. It's just the few who fall into the 'grumpy old men" category that let the side down.

btw, have I missed the 2nd mag? I forgot to look out for it in the newsagent.

Thanks, Jim. As you ask, I nervously mention that the second issue isn't out till 26th September, and that if you have any problems finding it you can email us ([email protected]) and we'll sort you out by PayPal.
