Picture the scene:

We have just left the DeWalt stand where I received a Master Class from Philly, Martin and Waka in how to brow beat a DeWalt employee into knocking a further £10 off an already heavily discounted worktop jig. We were resting (well those jigs are heavy  ) while Waka was negotiating the purchase of a very expensive Festool fleece (well they were throwing in a saw as well  ) when suddenly, calm as you like, Philly just came out with it. "I think I'm losing interest in tools."   No, I didn't believe it either. Anyway, after much nursing and comforting I think we managed to shake him out of it - but for a while he had me worried, I can tell you

Cheers

Never met Philly, but I know that man loves his tools.

I hope you slapped him about until he came to his senses.

That's odd, he seemed fine when I left him. What did you do to him after that?

I thought the best one liner came from that lady selling the sewing kits, in a sort of espanic / russian type hard to exactly identify accent.

"where is your friend I like him very much?" (waka that is)

at that point we all left quickly.

Top day out enjoyed meeting all the gang. Hope to see you all again next time. Esc.

Philly may have stopped taking the medication briefly.....needs to keep on taking the tablets. Glad everyone had a good day, shame I couldn't get there as it would have been a great day out - Rob

Rob, thinking about your elm cabinet, I tried out the Clifton 410 and 420 shoulder planes, trimming up a tenon and shoulder that Mike Hudson had prepared - very, very nice, particularly the larger one. But you probably don't need one now

Cheers

Fear not, Folks. I feel Paul may of misunderstood my comments....
After waiting at the Festool stand for what felt likes decades as a certain, um, individual tried to get a free fleece (in return for purchasing a new, not on the market yet, mitre saw) I was losing the will to live.
I am happy to report that I feel much better now and may even take a look at Axminsters website later as therapy.
Cheers
Philly :D

Hold the front page. "Man fleeced on Festool Stand.........."

All I can say is that I had a fantastic day out, really good to meet members of the forum.

I was a bit dissapointed that a few (not to be named) persons had travelled long distances and resisted the urge to but anything, even with badgering.

The needle splicer was well received by HID's, now all I need to do is explain the purchases, I'm sure martin will help.

Anybody out there fancy a workshop day in Dorset, just let me know, if not hope to see you all at yandles in April.

Paul - have used Phill's shoulder plane to clean up the rebates for the back panels on the elm cabinet and a very nice job it did too :D , next job is to apply some finish to the panels ( 2 coats of matt Osmo Polyx-Oil) and then glue up the back, clean up, finish the panel frame and fit into the rebate. Hopefully, all will go according to plan - Rob

I thought Phillys comment might have been because he already owns every woodworking tool ever invented
