Hello all,

today I've received a SIP 4 x 8" Belt And Disc Sander With Dust Extraction - Model 01946
http://www.toolgurus.co.uk/upload/e...-inch-x-8-inch-belt-and-disc-sander/01946.png

But I've got a question:
the disc seems to be oscillating/bobbing. Is that normal in this kind of machines ( a bit like the oscillating spindle sanders)?
Should I send it back and get it replaced?
I've also added a video on youtube to let you better understand what I mean.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you very much!

I don't know about SIP rubbish but I have the large disc sander and it's brilliant - and weighs an absolute ton.

Got some SIP gear myself and have no problems with it, it does sound like yours has taken a knock, send it back and get another .

The big SIP stuff is ok but the cheaper Chinese stuff is rubbish I had two 10” table saws one lasted a year the second one the motor and blade fell out when I started it up. Had a 10” sliding mitre saw that was replaced under warranty then the second one started falling apart so I got rid of it. The 12” band saw had loads of switches under warranty and the fence broke, so I got rid of that after making a net fence for it. The roller support I bought for the saw broke as did the replacement that I welded back together myself.

Well over the years I have had alot of SIP stuff, still to this day am using a 12" cast table saw and heavy duty morticer - have had them both for about 6 or 7 years and they have not missed a beat - especially considering the amount of work they have done.

No it should not do that but it is SIP rubbish
I recently bought a sip sander (01927). It was very noisey (intermittant) and eventually the pully fell off the motor.(2 months of light work) Repaired by sip (took forever). Machine was initially ok but now very noisy again. Pully appears ok. The motor is making the noise and has the apearance of a cheap chinese reject. Not sure if there is any point in sending it back to sip.
