Dan jr has just turned seven.
I was helping him with some spelling homework last night and he got a bit stuck on 'didn't'. Well you would at seven, wouldn't you?
I explained how it was a shortened version of 'did not' and how the 'o' was replaced by a little dash.
'Oh', he replied scathingly, 'You mean an apostrophe?'

It's nice to know that some schools at least are doing their job properly!
