Here is my latest bit of wood butchery for your comments.

As you can see it makes pretty extensive use of wood stains as the subject really needed it (I think).

ps how many hours a day do you work on these? makes me look VERY SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW

At the moment I've not got much business work on so I reckon I'm averaging around 4 - 6 hours per day.

I am managing around 4hrs but bit less productive than you Phill  maybe Ruth needs to whip me a bit more?

Cheers and keep at it
Brian

No, you need to whip Ruth harder  , well that's how it worked when I was an apprentice

But on a more serious note, I suspect that my work is not done to the same standard as yours.

Also I think you face working challenges that most people would not have the patience to put up with and for that you have my admiration. Ooh, I hope that isn't too personal Brian.

I thought it worth sharing this little slant on the whole to dye or not to dye discussion.

This piece makes extensive use of dyes to provide the bright colours and contrasts of the subject.

I posted a copy of it on my blog and then a link to my blog from a copy of it on my Facebook page. The link and post has generated a huge spike in visitors.

Now this may just be the nature of the subject and local interest, but I saw a similar spike with the Robin that regular readers here may recall also used dyes.

This suggests to me that the buying public just like what they see with no real view on the niceties of dyed vs natural wood.

In any event the piece has now sold :D
