I think you’ll find Andy that most of us don’t use plans, or if we do we’ve drawn them. I think you need to get into the habit of looking at something and working out how it was made and then put together, it takes a little bit of experience to work out what section of wood for different things/parts sometimes, like drawer sides thinner is better – less clumsy. Things for craft fairs, about the only person I have come across that made money from craft fairs was a guy who did cutting boards, just flat bits of wood shaped but he had a CNC laser to burn things like "you don’t have to be crazy to work here but it helps" and he took orders for peoples names and special messages with dates on and that sort of thing.
