cheers guys - ive calmed down a little now - and if there are no other takers for organising it next year i guess i'd do it again (tho i'd quite like to see someone else facilitate so that i can enter )

I dont believe it would be right to name and shame as the matter has been dealt with now and may be best forgotten - and steve no dont withdraw you won alt pens fair and square and yopu should just claim your prize and spend it as shedhead has

with regard to my poison email corespondent i'd love to name and shame the little scrote but unfortunately he didnt have the cojones to sign his name and the email was a garbage throwaway hotmail one. - suffice to say that if he or she is reading this i hope they feel ashamed

anyway lets draw a line on the unseemly stuff and let shedhead have his thread back - any pictures of said gouge, in use maybe ? you know without pictures it didnt happen.

I would ask that if the prize I was awarded had to be bought by you that you keep it and use it yourself please because that situation isn't fair. And, furthermore, if you didn't have to buy it, keep it as a 'thank you' gesture for the work you did. That would please me.

brendan thats a very kind gesture but it doesnt seem right to me , its your prize won fair and square and theres no reason why you should lose out just because a couple of other people have chosen to act like imbeciles

I entered the pen making comp as i felt that if i was to win (not much chance of this happening) then the prize would not be worth it for me. The distance to travel for a days tuition would be silly. And it would not be nice to refuse the prize, even though i can do with the tuition
However i entered the comp not with winning in mind, but just for the fun and support of this wonderful forum.
Yes this sounds a bit "sooky", but it is fact.

I think that the person that took the time to make up and email just to get a comment in, should have the BALLS to come forward and stand by their thoughts. This is what i do say what i feel.

Why hide in the background.

I have bought another spindle gouge from Vince as i realy like the tools. I only ever wanted to let everyone know about the low price but great tools that were avalible.

I will try to get a picture as soon as i can. My time is taken up just now looking after my Mum, she is disabled, and my Dad has been in hospital 7 weeks now. He is just holding on, so i might not get around to the pictures.

Just read this thread and it all sounds like the typical "Friendly Society" be it what ever hobby where there are those that do the job and those that let them and then criticize.
As an entrant of the competion I was very satisfied with your efforts BSM and I was on holiday when the comp was judged and the winning entries announced so did not comment.
At the time I thought that the winners deserved their places but was short of time to reply so in hindsite well done all.
As for you BSM well done your efforts are appreciated and please do it again next year.

Despite volunteering to be 'second fiddle' .. I did nothing, cause you handled the whole thing, and in a fantastic manner I may add.
It was great fun, All the entrants ( i think.. ) enjoyed it.. and those who didn't manage to enter, enjoyed looking and following it, ( I believe ),...

It was magic... really ! .

We absolutely will do it again next year... and as with everything, as you'll know only too well, you never please everyone , 100 of the time... but such is life.

Its for a bit of fun.. a chance to try and push ones 'Talents' a bit... and something that should be taken in a light-hearted and good spirited way... heaven knows, there's plenty of stuff going on in most peoples lives that they need to take serious.. health things, job worries etc etc.. life's way too short to get all 'arsey' about a bit of fun compo.. but alas, some people never fail to amaze ! :wink:

Bit of a bad show that 'donor'(s) didn't come through with a promise.. thats bad crack... Thats not how things should work. :shock:

However...to stay on the upside... you ''done good, 'Arry''... in fact you did a first class, first rate job.. and no mistake.
