Hi all

I would not normally touch mahogany with a barge pole. But I have just come by some and was wondering if any would know what the price per c/ft would be.

I was thinking around £60 but can;t seem to find out.

Anyone any ideas. ??

Thanks

Don't know if this is any help. It seems to depend on which mahogany it is .

hi Thanks.

It is not sepele, and I think it is a Brazilian. But it is as heavy as hell and dark reddish brown. Been in a workshop for a lot of years I think.

perhaps I need to plan a bit off and post a pic at some time to see if I can get it identified. But I am no expert on exotics.

Dowes it smell peppery when it is cut? Have you tried posting on the flatland part of the forum as there are some real woodie gurus on there.

I'll give it a go, it just smells like really old dusty wood at the moment. I have tried to identify it from my book's but the picture colours are not very accurate and I think it will come down to the grain structure to identify it properly. I will cut and sand a bit then post a scan of it.

thanks for the help.
