Hi folks

A recent thread about mass-produced bowls got me thinking about industrial manufacturing processes and I made this;

the idea was to give the impression that it was pressed out of a single sheet like a car body panel or similar. It's about 12" across, 1/8" thick all over (a bit thicker in the bottom) Spalted Beech finished in lemon oil. Let me know what you think.

Interesting idea, I like it. The quality of turning is top notch too. Well done.

I read this as 'Pressed Beef ' at first and wondered whaat on earth you had been turning now :oops:

You failed in your attempt to make it look mass produced. As said it has soul. :lol:
Having said that it is so immaculate that I can see where you are coming from.

I was looking at some bowls in a supermarket the other day wondering how they could sell them for under a tenner each and noticed that they were all rubber wood and made from goodness know how many pieces glued together. Each was totally identical in shape size etc and they were definitely 'soulless'

You certainly achieved the the sharp detail and correct emphasis at the section change interfaces to give the 'pressed' look Pete H.
I agree with other comments though, far too well executed to be considered mass produced.

Superb Pete, Looks exactley as you intended IMO. Lovely crisp lines and beautiful finish thanks for showing REgards Boysie.
