Maybe you could leave a roll of cord in the shop so clients could cut to the length they require

My first segmented bowl, made from oak.
Doing the inside was terrifying, but after several catches and knocking it off the chuck a couple of times (I'm relatively new to turning, with limited tools and equipment) I think I got there in the end.

I got asked to make a darning mushroom, so made a couple plus an additional shaped darning aid. The lady never turned up to collect them so they got saved in the odds & sods box.
Also a piece of Monkey Puzzle tree. Only problem is that someone had drilled a hole through the centre, possibly an attempt to stop it splitting. Managed to insert a base piece & add a tenon.

Two pens. I think these may be Cypress Tree seeds from Greece donated by a member here. I've included a photograph of one mould with coffee grounds which I've used in all sorts of 'filling' situations. Unfortunately in this instance, I bggd this one up so no third pen.

A productive day today so I'll have to split it over 2 posts 
.
First I needed to stop dust and Woodchips getting into my drink so I turned a cap for my cans of drink from an offcut of cherry
Next I turned 3 more cord pulls from parana pine/mahogany laminations, super happy with how clean the glue joints are as I have no way to flatten anything beyond using 60grit paper flat on the bandsaw table.

After turning the 3 parana pine/mahogany pulls I picked up a parana pine/pallet hardwood blank, not a clue what the pallet wood is but it's gorgeous and again the glue joints are really good.
Once these were done I had enough left from 2 of the blanks to turn a couple of discs that will be used on my next planned project attempt.

One more cord pull today and I got bored so used one of the blanks to make a bud vase which I think is gorgeous
So a while back I saw an emerging bowl, not long after I saw they cut some trees down at the golf club so I asked for a log or two...it was pine and has been in the workshop for maybe 6mths... anyway got round to trying an emerging bowl - bit of trial and error and the jigs took almost as long to make...it's a single turned piece (a quarter of the log - it wasn't big!) and was all done on the lathe....

Nice finish for pine what did you use and did you use anything to stabilise the bark please
Norfolk Pine? Another pen made with what I think may be Norfolk Pine cones—another donation of tree seeds from Greece. I used CA glue to stick the tails to a dowel and used ties to help hold them in position. I had to purpose-build a mould to cast it in resin. It didn't turn out quite as I wanted. When drilling down the centre wooden dowel the bit tended to drift. Still pleased with the resulting pen though.
Lots of sanding! 80 ,120, 180, 240, 320, 400 and even 600 on the bowl but not long...
Citrus burnishing oil - did nothing to the bark other than the oil but 4 coats...

My latest project has been working on four off cuts of the ash log l turned not long ago. Normally would have not bothered but where the bark had been taken off and the outside of the log showed grub damage that made a nice natural design on the surface that I thought could be used.
these are the four pieces the first experiment on was the smallest. Started by highlighting the grub lines with a yellow acrilyc wash the rub in some coconut oil then turned it between centres, unfortunately I don't have a heat gun otherwise I would have glued it to an exta bit of wood and used the
the missus loves it so much it is now in the bedroom being used for her rings. Next up is the ugly one of the bunch not only to save the outside pattern also to design a bowl that would sit flush against the wall didn't both to sand just soacked it in tung oil, the pedestal was from left over birch or beech 
third piece big shout out to Mr Stigmorgan for this one. Great idea thank you. Now I can have a proper mug of tea instead of the horrible plastic thermos cup I've been using.
finished with sanding sealer and coconut oil.
Last piece was going to be for a new box but change my mind when I saw the crack in the lid of the previous ash box I'd turned and after checking the size of the last piece I'm going to attempt a new replacement top.

A little pedestal bowl from an offcut of silver birch, it was a little awkward as the grain was at about 45degrees instead of end or side grain but as a quick piece it came out OK, sanded to 320 and then abrasive paste as the final finish.
Spent the day stripping down the variable speed drive on my lathe as I was experiencing belt tension problems now all fixed so to give it a test I used a small of cut from the red cedar bowl and popped this out. Noticed small cracks appearing during sanding so stopped. Cleaned it up and finished it with sanding sealer. Only 9cm across the square

So, over the weekend I went to comicon in London ( I go 2 or 3 times a year) and one of the stalls was selling 3D printed dragons of different sizes so I bought myself a little one and inspired by him today I put the birch burr I collected a couple of weeks ago on the lathe and turned a Birch Dragon Egg (I've also had an idea I'm really excited about if I can find a modeller to collab with)
